Team & Field Roles

Everyone Plays!  Everyone Volunteers!

Marine Park Soccer , as with all AYSO regions, is a parent-based, ALL-volunteer organization. In order to deliver a quality soccer program for your children, we all need to pitch in.  For some parents that might mean weekly involvement, such as coach or referee, while for others it may mean concentrating their participation a few times a year, such as with field layout, or being on the registration or picture staff.  We have many volunteer positions available for any type of work schedule.  No soccer knowledge is required for any role, as we provide all necessary training and certification.  Read through these descriptions of team & Field volunteer positions to see what appeals to you.

COACH:  on field position
Sets up and runs training and practices for the team. Is responsible for the conduct of players, parents and others associated with the team at all practices and games.  (Safe Haven & Age appropriate training & certification—provided by AYSO—will be required.)

ASSISTANT COACH: on field position
Gives assistance to, and can substitute for, the coach as needed.  (Safe Haven & Age appropriate training & certification—provided by AYSO—will be required).

TEAM PARENT: on field position
As the coach's administrative partner, oversees team organizational needs. Coordinates parent volunteer assignments and refreshment schedules, handles communications with players' families, prepares team rosters, collects & maintains player medical release forms, etc.  (Safe Haven online training & certification will be required.)

REFEREE (Center): on field position
The official in charge of the match at every game. The referee's #1 job is to keep the game safe, fair, and fun for the players.  (Safe Haven & Age appropriate training & certification—provided by AYSO—will be required).

LINESMAN: on field position
These are assistant referees, responsible for off sides, ball in and out of play, and possession calls.  (Safe Haven & Age appropriate training & certification—provided by AYSO—will be require

FIELD PAINTER: on field position
Responsible for repainting the lines of their soccer field twice every week before game play begins.  (We will provide painting machine and training at the beginning of the season)

OPT OUT & PAY:
In rare instances, due to logistical reasons, it may be impossible for a parent to volunteer in any way (i.e., working out of the country).  In such cases, they may choose to Opt Out of volunteering by making an Opt Out Donation of $250 per child.  However, your volunteer participation is much more valuable to our region and your child.
